Classic is beautiful.

Beautiful: Classics are beautiful. There is something captivating about timeless classics that never go out of style. Whether it's beauty or fashion, there are certain staples that every gal should have in her makeup and clothing wardrobe. Timeless!

Gorgeous: I first stumbled upon the gorgeous Lauren Finney's blog, Where The Style Things Are, after I saw her adorable Inslee by Design  illustration (see above). Since then, I have become a fan of her blog (love the name!). Lauren is a feelance fashion writer and her work can be seen online in PageDaily, Huffington Post, and Cosmopolitan. Always stylish, she has put together five of her favorite picks to share with us - classics that never go out of style!

1. Oversized White Shirt by Brooks Brothers...$195. Details: I happen to have this particular one and LOVE it. I try to always get it in a small men's size - they're cut looser on the sides and fit me just right as opposed to shorter, slimmer women's cuts.

2. A Statement Necklace by Roberta Freymann...price online. Details: A statement necklace can go with shift dresses, white tees, button downs, strapless dresses, and more. It can elevate or even dress anything down!

3. A Single Sole Pump by Enzo Angiolini...$110. Details:  A single sole pump never goes out of style. I just happen to think of glitter as a neutral!

4. Amazing Jeans You Love by MiH...$189. Details: Everyone knows a well-fitting pair of jeans can change your entire night, and the MiH Kick Flare Marrakesh is my pair. Whether with chunky sweaters in winter or cotton printed tops in summer, I can find an outfit for them always.

 5. SchoolBoy Blazer by J. Crew in Navy...$198. Details: Pop up the collar (I have mine super starched), push up the sleeves, and the boring schoolboy blazer becomes the chicest topper over everything from tees and jeans to evening gowns.

Makeup: Here are my five favorite picks that every woman should have in her makeup bag!

1. Basic Matte Eyeshadow Palette by Urban Decay...$27. Details: This is the newest Urban Decay palette to be added to the Nakeds Collection and I love it. This is a must-have for all ages to create a neutral and flawless eye!

2. Neutral Lipstick by YSL in Blond Ingenu...$32. Details: This is a beautiful neutral lipstick that is a pink/peach nude color. This lipstick can go from a daytime look with a neutral eye to a nighttime look with a smoky eye. Love YSL lipsticks!

3. Basic Black Eyeliner by Make Up For Ever...$18. Details: I have tried almost every black eyeliner out there... and this is my favorite! Not only is it waterproof, it also goes on silky smooth. Try it, you'll see what I mean!

4. Definicils High Definiton Mascara in Black by Lancome...$27. Details: This is my all time favorite mascara. It seperates and defines every lash and does not clump (which is key for me). I compare every other mascara to this one!

5. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Skin Perfecting Foundation...$45. Details: This is my everyday go-to foundation. I love that it is light weight but covers (I would say light to medium coverage). It feels like nothing is on your skin and gives you a beautiful glow! (just remember to set with powder!)

Do something lovely: May 10, 2013 is World Lupus Day. Do something lovely and purchase a Sara Gorman Pillbag (I just purchased the Pillfold Bordeaux -- super cute!). For evey pillbag sold, 5% goes to a Lupus charity. To learn more about this autoimmune disease that affects women between the ages of 14 - 44, and has no known cause or cure, please visit the S.L. E. Lupus Foundation.

Special thanks to Lauren Finney for your wonderful guest post (I already purchased the shoes)! And for bravely sharing your story, On the Heels of Lupus for Fashion on Huffington Post. I must admit, I was not very familiar with Lupus prior to reading your article, and it prompted me to learn more. Thank you. You are brave, brilliant, and beautiful!

Red is gorgeous.

Beautiful: Red is bold and beautiful. I will always have a special place in my heart for red lipstick. I joke that red lipstick changed my life. I started my beauty journey, while I was in college, after reading a social psychology article called, Does Red Lipstick Make A Woman More Attractive?, peaked my interest. To this day, I find it so interesting that a color can evoke so many different emotions in people.

Gorgeous: Red lipstick is gorgeous. Only red lipstick can beckon a variety of different emotions every time it's worn. It's timeless, it's classic, and it never goes out of style. And the good news is, it looks good on all skintones!

Makeup: Have you found your perfect red? Here are my favorites that range from ruby red to deep brick red. Try any of these picks to see if you can find your perfect red (trust me, I know how hard it is to find)! Also, please see my quick steps below on how to perfectly apply red lipstick, once you find yours! (photo by Heather Bennett Photography)

1. Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Burnt Red...$24. Details: Love Bobbi Brown lipsticks and this one is a perfect brick red in a semi-matte finish.

2. Nars Semi Matte Lipstick in Shanghai Express...$24. Details: This is one of my go to reds! It has a velvety non-drying texture and is a deep red!

3. MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo...$15. Details: This is a bright ruby red that makes a bold and very pretty statement!

4. YSL Rouge Volupte in Red Taboo...$34. Details: For those of you that have kindly been reading my blog, you know how much I love YSL lipsticks. The gold packaging, the smooth and silky lipstick, the scent... love eveything! This is my favorite blue-red lipstick.

5. Chanel Rough Allure in Passion...$34. Details: Intense color with lasting power. This is more of a tomato red that very bold on!

6. Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick in Rich Red...$22.50. Details: Long wear and super creamy on the lips! This is a beautiful classic red (with a tiny bit of gold flecks).

7. Revlon Super Lustrous - Creme Lipstick in Love That Red...$7.99. Details: Revlon has been making this color since 1951! It is a bold red (kind of orange-red, in my opinion) that is truly fun and the price point is too good to pass up!

Do something lovely: Since Valentine's Day is right around the corner, wouldn't it be lovely to debut your perfect red? I hope you find it!

Special thanks to my sisters who once accompanied me to a red lipstick marathon at Macy's. We each tried on ever red lipstick in the store just to arrive at our own perfect shade! It was so fun!

Emerald is beautiful.

Lauren Snow, Lauren Snow Cosmetics, emerald, pantone color of the year, green beauty products

Beautiful: Color is beautiful. Every year, I eagerly await the announcement of Pantone's Color of the Year. Since 2000, Pantone's selected hue has inspired the beauty world, fashion designers, and interior designers. Emerald has been selected for the 2013 Color of the Year! It's all about elegance, beauty, renewal, and prosperity! Cheers to a beautiful 2013!

Gorgeous: This year is already off to a wonderful start! I love meeting with brides-to-be. They always have a gorgeous glow and are beaming with excitement! When we meet for our consultations to review the Wedding Guide 2013, I enjoy hearing their love stories. Each story is uniquely different. Hearing their stories allows me to relive my own personal love story and to reflect on how magnificant love is! And with all this emerald talk, I couldn't help but think that this years wedding trend may be: something old, something new, something borrowed, something emerald!

Makeup: Emerald is my favorite color! Here are some ways to incorporate this jewel-toned color in to your beauty style! p.s. - Sephora will be launching a Sephora + Pantone Universe Emerald collection very soon!
