Getting ready is beautiful.

Beautiful: Weddings are beautiful. It's always such a privilege to be invited to such an intimate part of the day with the bride in her getting ready room. It is in this room that laughs are had, dancing takes place, champagne is sipped, old stories are shared, and nerves are eased. It is a very personal time for the bride and her bridal party to get pampered by getting their makeup and hair done and to get dressed for the wedding. If there is ever a time that makeup can bring a group of women together, it would be on this beautiful day, in the bride's getting ready room!

Gorgeous: Emmy's mom said it best when she saw Emmy right after her makeup and hair were done and said, "Absolutely stunning!"  Diana Elizabeth (who photographed the wedding) said that the photos can't do the wedding justice because it was that beautiful! As for me, this is by far one of my favorite weddings. It was perfect!

Makeup: When Emmy and I met for our consultation, she decided that she wanted to do a smokey eye for her wedding day along with raspberry colored lip. I created a look for her based on the overall inspiration of her wedding (hair, dress, flowers, colors, etc.). We decided on a clean smokey eye, flawless and radiant skin, with a light raspberry colored lipgloss.

I've already received a few emails asking me what color Emmy wore on her lips. The color we selected was Smashbox Limitless Longwear Lipgloss in Sheer Raspberry. Love it!

Do something lovely: If you are getting married, please promise me you will consider hiring a professional makeup artist. Here are my 5 lovely reasons why:

1. Comfort level with makeup: Maybe you are not that comfortable with makeup? Or maybe your don't feel comfortable applying it? That's okay. Hire a professional makeup artist that will collaborate with you to find your perfect look!

2.  Knowlege: Makeup artists are skilled on color theory and application. They have all the tools to ensure you look and feel your best on your wedding day. Leave it to the pros!

3. Camera Ready: You are making a significant investment in your wedding photos, you want to be sure that your makeup translates in photographs. You will have them forever and ever!

4. Cohesive look for the bridal party: You want to be sure that that the entire bridal party wears makeup that compliments yours, the bride. It is so important that everyone looks good!

5. Stress free: It's such a busy day. The last thing on your mind should be finding your eyelash curler. It should be a lovely experience not a stressful one!

Special thanks to Emmy for inviting us into her getting ready room! You made such a beautiful bride. Angela, Shannon, and I had the best time with you and all your lovely bridesmaids. I wish you and Ian a lifetime of love and happiness!

Special thanks to Diana Elizabeth for featuring me on her blog where Emmy found my company and for these gorgeous pictures! To Rachel Troyan from Outstanding Occasions for helping coordinate makeup and hair on the big day. And to Lisa Palacios from Sachi Salon for helping us get these lovelies ready and for sharing the getting ready room with us! xo

I heart makeup.

I love makeup! By now, if you have been lovely enough to read my blog, you know that about me! People often ask me what my favorite product is, and I always have a hard time answering. So, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite products that I use while working and the Top 5 reasons I love makeup so much! I would love to hear what you favorite products are! Add a comment below or send me an email at lauren@laurensnow.com.

Top 5 reasons I love makeup (in no particular order)!

Number 1: It washes off - the best part about makeup is there are never any permanent mistakes! It gives you the freedom to play around with different looks and colors to see what works best for you.

Number 2: It's a small luxury - what other items from Chanel or YSL can you buy for less than $100? I share this reason with so many people when I hear them say they think makeup is too expensive. My rule of thumb is you get what you pay for and the same things goes with skincare and makeup.

Number 3: It is custom fit for just you - each of our makeup choices depend on skintone, eye color, hair color, etc. Have you ever looked at someone and loved their lipstick color only to find out that it looks completely different on you? I love how it can look different on everyone. It's individual.

Number 4: It has history - I love reading about the history of makeup, I find it so intriguing! Makeup is reflective of the time and era. It tells a powerful story, including yours.

Number 5: It enhances our natural beauty - when you look your best, you feel your best. It is the greatest gift to help create a perfect look for clients. It is a true art form.

Above you will find some of my makeup favorites that I can't live without. These are always in my makeup kit while working with clients. Love!

5. Urban Decay All Nighter - one spray of this and your look will last!

6. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler - one of the best eyelash curlers. I also the the Tarte eyelash curler.

1. Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation...$55

2. Dior Diorshow Mascara in black...$25

Well-rested is lovely.

Beautiful: These days, I feel like I need concealer more than ever! I have always been a mulit-tasking kind of gal but lately things have been heightened. With two little boys, running a business, and moving, I find myself reaching for my little magic tube of concealer more often! Even though, my sleep is a bit lacking, I am grateful for all of these beautiful experiences. Bring on the Benefit Erase Paste!

Gorgeous: I have been on a quest to find the perfect concealer for as long as I can remember! I love that gorgeous well-rested look! But when you can't get a full 8 hours of sleep, the next best thing is a great concealer. Right?

Makeup: I swear I have tried every concealer know to woman (and at every price point)! There is no concealer that I wouldn't try. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

1. YSL Touche Eclat (Radiant Touch)...$40. Details: This is a cult favorite and it's one of mine! It has a beautiful radiance and glow. It makes a great hightlighter and concealer.

2. Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit...$33. Details: Bobbi Brown is known for her peachy undertone concealers. This duo has a creamy concealer and a powder to set the concealer. Love!

3. Clinique All About Eyes Concealer...$16.50. Details: I like this concealer because it gives good coverage. You need to use a good under eye cream (be sure it is fully dried) before you put it on.

4. Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette...$38. Details: I am never without this palette! I love the coverage and color ranges it has. It is perfect on many of my clients. Be sure to set the concealer with Make Up For Ever HD Micro Finish Powder for long wear.

5. Benefit Eraser Paste ...$26. Details: This is my everyday concealer. It is super easy to use and goes on smooth with good coverage. Always in my handbag when I'm on the go!

6. bareMinerals Broad Spectrum Mult-Tasking Face...$18. Details: This is magic! Sometimes people think it may look cakey or dry because it is a mineral powder, but the consistency is silky. It has great coverage when applied correctly and will cover under eyes and is a great spot cover!

Do something lovely: If you have a concealer that you love, please let me know at lauren@laurensnow.com. I will be sure to try it! I am still on my quest to find the perfect conceler. Thanks lovelies!

Special thanks to my mom who constantly reminds me to get enough rest. You are never to old to take your mom's advice! She does know best!
